artist's biography

Born 1972, Essex, England. ANDREA FARMER trained in Illustration and Graphic Design at the Havering College of Further & Higher Education (BTEC ND in Graphic Design and A’ Level Graphic Design) and the Kent Institute of Art and Design (HND Graphic Design & Illustration). She has worked as a professional artist and graphic designer for over 10 years.

Andrea’s paintings are unique and vibrant. Her work is held in collections worldwide with a variety of corporate and private commissions. Various paintings are currently on loan / permanent exhibition with galleries, charity and healthcare establishments in England. Andrea will also be exhibiting extensively through to 2009 with the Rogue Gene Collective, Art4Essex, in group exhibitions and on a solo basis.

Andrea’s work is inspired by the ever changing environment plus nature’s colour, mood, texture and form. Dramatic skies, cloud formations, movement and light feature heavily in her landscape and sunset paintings. Living in Chelmsford, Essex, England the vast beautiful countryside and local views also influence her work - alongside her travels to warmer climates, especially the coasts and islands of the Mediterranean and Adriatic which feature in her tranquil seascape paintings.

Andrea’s still life and expressive abstract paintings are an expression from within the mind - an alternative and sometimes passionate, obscure and twisted view representing personal matters, feelings and emotion with regards to everyday objects in the natural world around us.

Andrea welcomes commissions . . . a unique and personal work of art can be produced for your home and interior, office, wine bar, restaurant etc. or as a gift for that special person. All paintings are signed and dated by the artist. Please contact Andrea to discuss your commission requirements in detail. This can be done either in person (on-site where appropriate), by e-mail or telephone to establish with you the most appropriate style and colour scheme to compliment the space in question. A no obligation quotation and approximate completion date will then be provided. On acceptance of the quotation a non-returnable 50% deposit is all that is required to start your commission with the balance paid upon completion. You will receive regular progress updates and photographs via e-mail of your painting in progress.

Andrea is also a keen supporter of local art groups, community art and charity projects along with wildlife, nature and environmental causes. She donates a number of artworks each year to help support various charity art auctions and other events.
